Ben and I go to the Dr Who 50th Anniversary Exhibition at Excel. I have to steel myself to cross the river in the Emirates Cable Car – decide the only way I can do it is to close my eyes once I’m in. Four years at the top of the Gherkin and I still have problems with heights! I do open my eyes a few times though so I’m certainly better. The exhibition is brilliant, endless acres of entertainment and memories, highlights include Matt Smith, Jenna Louise Coleman and Steven Moffat chatting together, Ben being attacked by a Cyberman and all the different darleks. We enjoy seeing some of the previous Doctors interviewed too, I am slightly disappointed I don’t see Tom Baker but Sylvester McCoy (who I never watched as he fell in between me watching as a child and then as parent) was hysterically funny. The next night we all see the 50th anniversary episode at the cinema, which is being shown simultaneously in 70 countries around the world – wow. David Tennant, my favourite Doctor as an adult (it was Tom Baker when I was a kid), Matt Smith, Ben’s favourite Doctor and John Hurt, well - suddenly we all have a new favourite Doctor! Great fun. Steven Moffat is a genius.
