Why Worry? 30th January 2014

Today was the funeral of Dr Tom Wade, a huge character, much loved, respected and admired who passed away recently aged 90. His son Jamie read Terence Young’s poem ‘Why Worry?’ at today’s crowded memorial service.  It made everyone smile and think of Dr Wade. Johnny and I have been reciting it to everyone we know.

There are only two things to worry about:

Either you are well or you are sick.

If you are well, then there’s nothing to worry about.

But if you are sick there are only two things to worry about,

Whether you will get well, or whether you will die.

If you get well, there is nothing to worry about.

But if you die, there are only two things to worry about,

Whether you go to heaven or hell.

If you go to heaven there is nothing to worry about.

And if you go to hell you’ll be so busy shaking hands

With old friends you won’t have time to worry….

Maison Bertaux Mince Pies - December 24th 2013

We all love Maison Bertaux in our house, at any time of the year, but especially at Christmas, so an important part of our family Christmas is going to visit Michelle’s Soho patisserie on the 24th and collecting the mince pies before going home to The Donkey*. (*The Donkey is the irreverent, but decidedly affectionate, term for the nativity parade through the Blackheath that is followed by Carols outside of All Saints Church on the heath). Hooray – no rain. And, no I didn’t eat all those pies in the picture!

Mince pies from Maison Bertaux, Soho's best Patisserie, make that London's! No - I didn't eat all those pies...
